There has been a childrens chess club running in Tyrrelstown for the past few months as part of the community games. Tyrrelstown is in Dublin 15 near Blanchardstown and Mulhuddart.

We have a few chess sets. CowboyDreams has just donated three club sets :D. The plan is for the club to be open to all. Is there anyone here who would like to come along to play? We have not decided the best evening to play yet. At the moment we play every second Saturday but I would like to move that to a weeknight.

If anyone has any advise about starting a chess club I would be really interested to hear it.

do you know John Delaney? He is running a thriving junior chess club somewhere in Blanch, and setting up a network that junior chess clubs all over Leinster/Ireland can be affiliated to. Definitely the first person you should talk to.

Hi there, I'm moving to Tyrrelstown in October. I hope this club is still running, always in walking distance rather than going to blanch.

@ rolion, I replied to yourself as well.

In case anyone may think that confidential or unfair information is being discussed, nothing of the sort.

I have provided limited info inthose two messages that is available on
    Irish Chess Union
    http://www.icu.ie/

    Leinster Chess Union
    http://www.leinsterchess.com/index.htm

What needs to happen is that the ICU and LCU websites need to provide accurate and up-to-date information (and be sent accurate info.) and that can help players finding new clubs.

We had our first weekly meeting last night at 8pm. We are in the youth centre in the village.

Thanks LiamMc for the chess union links I will contact them. And thanks CowboyDreams for donating the sets we are using.

If anyone has any advise or would like to come along please say so

Anyone any info on the new gym in Tyrrelstown. Its where the lighting shop used to be?

    They have a website here
    BMI Fitness

I went for physio there. Steve who runs it is very nice and did a great job fixing my wonky ankle. The place is clean and seems to have good equipment. But I have not trained there yet.

Any interest in coming down to the chess Chief of?
