Never seen one as early as that.

The Celsior's always seemed to be lower spec than the LS400's we got.

Something about that ad tells me the car hasn't been well cared for.

How can he pull if limousine tax? How does it work? I guess he is using some loophole to jump high tax?

I was thinking the same. Can't tax it as a limo (P.S.V.) without the correct insurance. I smell a rather large rat.......

I don't know about that particular car, but those are such lovely smooth cars! Really comfortable, effortless cruising too. The engines are great and sound beautiful when free'd up a little.

The Toyota Celsior was launched in January 1989, not sure when the LS400 was launched here - early 1990 maybe?

If you're talking about the lack of leather, velour or wool cloth is common in Japanese luxury cars (especially the big ones like the Toyota Century) as some consider leather too noisy.

The re-badging job on that is well dodgy :/

The seller, John Crowley, owns West Clare Limousines. Given what he says in the ad:
    wrote:
cheap tax €82 per year (Limo tax) privately used and owned for past 6 years
he's either a tax dodger or a liar.

ok so nothing dodgy abut his ability to get the cheap tax.
Buying it on condition, I dont think the exact useage is much of a concern to the next buyer.

Yes there is, he's entitled to limo tax on cars used in the course of his business. He specifically states in the ad that this car was 'privately used and owned for the past six years', so that's tax fraud straight off. Of course the other question is the relevance of this to the buyer - is he suggesting that they continue the scam?

No, but I think the above is relevant to any assessment of the care the car got during his ownership. Look closely at the pics and my money's on that car being hacked.

He won't see €1200 for that unless somone bites for the tax thing. I presume he is claiming to buyers that it was his own to and from work yoke or weekend yoke and never used for actual work, which may or may not be the case but it's taxed as a PSV.

Out of interest, what's the deal if he puts a fresh years PSV tax on that thing and sells it to a new private owner - does the tax carry, or does it become void?

Becomes void unless the new owner also has PSV use, tax class will be changed on the VRC too, or it should be, when I got my VRC for the diesel W124 about two year ago now (time flies :pac:) it was still down as a tax i though even though I ticked private when I filled in my details when buying it.

Taxi, hackneys, limos etc aren't taxed for private use, strictly speaking they shouldn't be used for any private use at all.

Yeah I thought the asking price was quite rich too.
