The problem is the age of the car. It's 14 years old and is, by its nature, less safe than a modern car.

That said, it is expensive, about twice what would be expected.

I would have thought €450 would be about right considering the NCB isn't full yet. What area is Dublin 6? Any incidents prior to the 4 years NCB being clocked up?

    did web quotes

Ring them all - web quotes are half-useless when you have anything out of the ordinary to insure, and 'out of the ordinary' in this case means a 14 year old car.

Same age, similar quotes on an A6, was told to add my missus to the policy, they took 150 quid off!

+1. Like everything else, insurance quotes are also open to negotiation.

650 tpft sounds a bit much to me as im male, mid 20s and although i've a clean full licence 5 years i had to "start from scratch" insurance wise almost 2 years ago, coming off a trade policy, and i actually had a quote relatively recently of around 1k, maybe just over... for a carina E

    that was comprehensive

What value have you placed on the car? I find if you value less the €3000 they load. Value it at €5000 and see how it goes, you'll only get book value if you claim.

Try no nonsense.ie there. I got 3rd party fire and theft on a 206 for just over 800 and I'm 21 with one year driving experience which I thought was very good.

If you're male that's pretty good. if female still not bad

Remember to check the excess on the policy. Noticed that most companies have doubled their excess this year and charge extra to bring it back to last years levels....sneaky gits

I got a good deal with Kennco through Insure.ie.

Crikey that's expensive. When I lived in d6 I was paying that to insure my Honda euro r fully comp with 3y ncb and I was 31.

That does seem expensive. Try AIB - they gave me the cheapest quote and you can pay monthly without being charged interest!

Also I got 200 EUR off the total price for adding my girlfriend to the insurance (we live together). She only has her license 1 year.
