VW Caddy - glow plug light

    Hi all,

I've been having a problem with my VW Caddy (2005) 1.9 TDI. The glow plug light is flashing intermittently - usually in traffic, or after coming off the motorway. It sometimes tends to blow a little smoke when revving hard - usually in the higher gears.

Last week, it had trouble starting in the morning and the engine management light came on...

    Any suggestions?

Could be injector failure as the you have a flashing glow plug light and some black smoke. This is usually a sign of this, hope it's not the case as it can be an expensive repair. Have you filled up anywhere different lately, could be caused by poor fuel quality. Is it loosing power when driving too?

Get a mechanic to have a look over it and run a diagnostic

It usually indicates a fault logged by the ECU. It could be one of many faults. As suggested, get a diagnosis run on it to be sure.
