About 5 months ago i bought a tv off d.i.d, the employee selling me the tv said there would be two glasses and one movie inside with the tv. At home i checked and there was only one pair of glasses, i returned the next day and he told me they were out of stock of the two glasses and movie butt told me they would be sent out to me by a month.
Five months later and they still arent here, i didnt mind that much but the telly broke down and wont turn on now so is there any way i could blame him for not giving me the glasses and movie so i could get a refund?

    EDIT:
could i ask for a replacement?

they dont sell them anymore so if i asked them for a replacement theyd have to give me either a credit note or a differant tv .

They'll see what the fault is and if it can be fixed, they'll fix it.

Only if it can't be fixed will they offer you a replacement.

thanks for responding, i rang them and they have no more so if it cannot be fixed they better give me a credit note.

If it worked for 5 months they didn't sell you a broken TV.

Was it a display model you bought? Seems odd that a new TV which is supposed to have 2 glasses and a movie didn't.

Shouldn't affect you consumer rights though, you still get the 3Rs.

is that still valid since it was 5 months ago?

I had a problem with a TV last year, and spoke to a girl called Amanda in their head office. It got sorted straight away, and I was very happy with how she looked after me. If I were you I would give her a call. I cant remember the number but I'm sure if you call one of the shops they will give it to you.

if you go to the DID website, there's contact details for their customer service dept.

    http://www.did.ie/content/Customer-Service/358

Why don't you contact them in writing to let them know about your problem?

You've 2 x seperate issues, the first being the missing glasses, the second being the fault with the TV.

Make them aware of both issues in writing & I'm sure they'll look after you.

Which d.i.d. shop are you dealing with? ask to speak to the manager and see if they can help. Iv found dealing with the store manager helpful in the past and if you get nowhere try their head office.

Galway, some <SNIP> said he'd give me the glasses but he never sends them and when i ring they say he'll ring back but he never does, and then when he's there he makes an exucse so he cant answer. <SNIP>

Why are you still so uptight about the glasses when you don't have a working tv?

And what have the employee's eating habits to do with the problem?

You have a way with words that would cause most shop staff to be not-to-worried about you.

Being polite may get you a bit further.

It's always best to stay calm and polite when dealing with shops, getting angry or rude wont help. explain to them you are annoyed with no one ringing you back and that you want the tv fixed and when it has been fixed you want the glasses you were told came with the tv.
