I know this is not a 4x4 question but this seems to be good place for technical questions, so mods move if i have stepped on toes...
Anyway, I am looking at buying a classic golf (1991), with a 1.6 diesel retrofitted, but it was origonally registered as a 1.3 petrol and has not been NCT'd since. Will they refuse to NCT it untill the logbook is updated, or will it be emissions tested on the basis of the 1.3 petrol or will they test it as a 1.6 diesel and dont care what the logbook says?
    confused:confused:
    Thanks in advance...

just change the book to say 1.6d, like it now should. Easiest way around it, 1.6d shouldnt be any harder to insure than the 1.3 petrol as it's only about 50bhp anyway, and while tax would be a bit more you'll easily save than in fuel costs

My brother has a car that he put a bigger engine in than it had, he went to get it NCT'd before any changes on the book and it went through fine, no questions were asked, not sure about what the emissions are based on though, and he swaped a 1.3 petrol for a 1.6 petrol.
