Bought a Tikka T3 .223 there recently... Whats a good modifier for them? Price range? I hear there is a serious bang off them unmodified.. would it disturb the locals a mile away or what?
Whats the story with getting the rifle treaded and re-proofed and how much is this? Do local gun dealers do it or is it a special service?

    Thanks lads

Have T3 in .223 myself. It is serious bang without it. I have T8 silencer on it, which is one of the most efective and popular for the price as far as I know. They ranging in arround 300 euro for the new one. Threading the barrel is 70-90 euro. It has to be done by professional gunsmith. There's also shorter version of T8 which called T4. It would suit more if you have short barrel. They are the same price, bouth going over the barrel. Another popular is Wildcat Predator. It is pretty much same size and price as T8, but is strippable for cleaning (t8 and t4 are not). Another popular mod would be Ase Ultra. It is very good in noise reduction considering it is quite small compare to the ones mentioned above.Price is arround 450 if i'm not mistaken.
    Hope this helps

T8 is what's on mine, Fergal White done the whole job. Have a look at his site http://www.irelandcustomrifle.com/

Getting a gun shop to do it is grand and lots of people do, I prefer knowing that my rifle is going somewhere I know it'll be done right, rather than perhaps the local engineering shop.

Why did you pay €150 for a HMR mod? SAK would have done for €50/60.

I like the 6"-9" swivel model, I've one for each rifle. A lot of people prefer the 9"-13" swivel. Whatever you go for, get the swivel, as it's very hand to level out the crosshairs on uneven ground. Also, look up "pod-locks", they're basically a little lever you use to replace a knurled nut which tightens the swivel function. The lever is a lot kinder to use than the knurled nut, nearly take yer skin off them yokes.

Yeah, they're not cheap. Last I heard Island Sports in Castlebar had an offer going. But that was a good while back now, still worth a ring. What works well with bipods is a little bag of polypropylene filling beads inside an old sock. Rear butt bag on the cheap, the beads aren't as heavy as sand and won't swell up when wet like with rice.

Sounds like a LEI. I paid 120 for mine, it might be a bit dear but my god its an engineering masterpiece. For its size it does some job. And looks the part;)
