This thread should really be moved to After Hours!.

    Anyway back on topic.

Well OP Galway is full of the homeless and knackers, and even homeless knackers, if you can imagine such characters.
And your friend studying Civil Law, (and may I say bravo to her), was correct in saying that Galwegians (This is how people from Galway refer to themselves LOL!) are a "stuck up" bunch of chaps.

However with these Galwegian riff raff being so aloof, they almost never steal, beg or become a general nuisance to people like we.

I hope this goes some way to easing your mind.

You do know that doctors have to treat homeless individuals and minority groups?
First just because you are in the institute of education is no guarantee you will study medicine.
You obviously are not choosing medicine for the right reason and have no compassion which is what's needed in an md.
I suspect the op is a troll

NUI Galway is just like any other college*

*except we've better craic, are 8 times smarter, 7 times better looking, have our own campus dog, pigeon and there's rumours we have a bear, we have also been credited with bringing sexy back.
Being an NUIG student also means you wake up every morning feeling like P. Diddy, we have also been credited with making the pop sensation Rebecca Black and we believe we can fly

There are also unconfirmed rumours we can double our density, unlike are GMIT rivals who have "Ironic" by Alanis Morissette as their anthem we have the second half of the Pokemon theme tune.

Finally, our engineers taught Beavers how to build dams and termites how to build mounds (we've yet to teach them to spell engineer, but we're working on it).

    Edit

Also we're unreal at doing Venn diagrams

if the OP is serious, which i doubt..... then they should become a banker, not a doctor!!! Snobby, Judgemental, without compassion.... theyd fit right in!

Isn't the institute in Dublin? If so.. trust me, your very very well prepared to deal with snobby people, knackers and homeless people (which, as somebody has already said, you will have to treat in your career and treat with dignity and respect.. so you may get over your fear!). Galway is a city, you'l get that, but its mainly a student city and the majority of people are awesome and just up for a bit of craic, no uppity attitude about them. One of the many reasons why Galway is the best place for college =)

babyface - your friend is correct.

We are very stuck up, and rightly so.

There are a load of knackers - and sure why not, aren't we a diverse city

Loads of homeless people too, just walk past the Spanish Arch on any sunny day and you'll see them all... homeless as the day they were born.

We also have a huge drug problem too, everyone in Galway has way too much craic crack

Might I suggest The Hamptons or New Jersey as an alternative place of study?

If you're not a troll, you're an idiot. No wonder you need to go to the Institute of Education and have your notes handed to you on a plate. No point venturing this far West OP, you'll have dropped out by Christmas.;)
