It's not often I post about some completely unknown rapper whose music I'm jut after hearing but this guy, Petey Pete, is definitely an exception. I saw DatPiff putting up a link to him on Facebook. In his own words "I am a disabled progressive emcee/producer from the DMV. I hope to bring a breath of fresh air to the industry. Let the music speak for itself!".

In an era where a struggle for the average relates to not having enough money the fact that a rapper has come out and rapped, with a great deal of skill, about real life struggles is a delight.

I'm not trying to single him out for any special attention just because he's in a wheelchair before anyone thinks that. I just think he's got tremendous balls to come out and rap about his life, especially considering the cut throat world of rap that we all know about. He is also a very talented wordsmith and his flow is better than a lot of rappers out there I feel.

The second track "Death to Misconceptions" is an unbelievable one I think. It talks about the struggles he faces every day being confined to his wheelchair.

"The die was cast on the date of my birth/
I guess I just wasn't destined to walk this earth/
The truth hurt but I learned to move past it/
I just can't see why the rest of ya'll hasn't"

"I'm sick of being relegated to back rooms/
All because the way that I travel is too taboo/
Who are you to deny me my fair share/
'Cause I rest within the confines of this wheelchair"

The mixtape is only out a few hours so there isn't a link from youtube I can post but you can listen to the mixtape here or download it as I did. I really don't think you'll be disappointed. Well I hope you won't or I'll look like a right fool posting all this for nothing :p.

As the kid's today say MAD RESPECT to Petey Pete.
