NASA issues warning of Super Solar Storm 2012.

It reminds me of a prophecy at AKITA Japan - hopefully those scientists are wrong!

The third message on October 13, 1973, the actual anniversary of the final visions and miracle of Fatima is as follows: "As I told you, if men do not repent and better themselves, the Father will inflict a terrible punishment on all humanity. It will be a punishment greater than the deluge, such as one will never have seen before. Fire will fall from the sky and will wipe out a great part of humanity, the good as well as the bad, sparing neither priests nor faithful. The survivors will find themselves so desolate that they will envy the dead.

Q: Is there a danger from giant solar storms predicted for 2012?
A: Solar activity has a regular cycle, with peaks approximately every 11 years. Near these activity peaks, solar flares can cause some interruption of satellite communications, although engineers are learning how to build electronics that are protected against most solar storms. But there is no special risk associated with 2012. The next solar maximum will occur in the 2012-2014 time frame and is predicted to be an average solar cycle, no different than previous cycles throughout history.

It happened once before in 1859.

The solar superstorm of 1859 was the fiercest ever recorded. Auroras filled the sky as far south as the Caribbean, magnetic compasses went haywire and telegraph systems failed.

The difference, though, is that, as in your quote, even the most violent solar wind storm cannot result in fire falling "from the sky and wiping out a great part of humanity". If a storm such as the one that occured in 1859 were to occur again, the worst that could happen is death from a lack of telecommunications and navigation systems. The aurora would be a wonderful spectacle, though.

I never said it was anything to do with the Akita Prophecy, I just said it reminded me of it. ;)
