At what age should poults be released without the use of a release pen?? Would 14/15 weeks be too young?

Not a good idea to hold them in release pen too long. We get ours at 6 weeks try to have them semi independent by 12/14 weeks. Less chance of running into desease problems os feather pecking.

Our chicks were 6weeks old when we used to get them and we never covered our pens but had plenty of shoots around the bottoms for the birds to get back in. You would always get a few walking around the bottom in the evening looking to get back in untill they figured out how to use the shoots. We never had big losses and as soon as they started getting a bit independant we moved some of the hoppers outside the pen.
