If you get the Iphone, you can use it as a modem and therefore you won't need the 3G broadband anymore. It's called tethering.

Thanks jack, i'm aware of that alright, but I will be connecting something like the Huawei B260a wireless router to create network throughout my home.

If you get both and you sign up to the 15GB package you get it for €14.99 instead of €19.99

I don't know if it's exactly what you want, but the iPhone does function as a wireless hotspot. It would be no good if there are more than yourself wanting to connect though. Let's say if you went out and took the phone with you.

AFAIK 3 do not offer any discounts. It could all be placed on one bill/account, but that is about as good as its gets.

Not true, I've had 3 iPhones connected to mine at the same time, all feasting on my "all you can eat data" with no problems.

Your pretty wrong first off the hotspot function on the iPhone supports more than one device at a time as Walkman stated above if you get a phone and broadband you get the broadband for 14.99 instead of 19.99 and you can't combine the 2 on one bill.

15 GB sounds pretty limited - do they do any discount that you know of for the 30 GB plan?

No discount on the 30GB as it's already discounted from 34.99 to 26 something.

There's no 15GB limit on the iPhone, what it says over 15gb they may start to throttle your connection. I'd say they won't throttle it would be a logistical nightmare to start throttling everybody over 15gb, unless your completely having a laugh I'd say they won't bother.

If you use the iphone for wireless broadband on the go, what kind of speeds do you get? Im considering the move from vodafone to three seeing as there offering all you can eat data. Was hoping this would be sufficient to provide me with internet for my laptop out and about.

To be honest I never check the speed because I find there's no need to as everything loads pretty fast even when tethering.

does anyone know the settings to go into to do this?

    Tethering

Its available on the iPhone after the 4.2 update. If you have that update you should see wireless hotspot in your settings.

I rang three today enquiring about broadband and Iphone package. I asked about the speed of using an Iphone instead of a dedicated three dongle.

I was told it wouldn't be as good, is there much difference between tethering a three Iphone to my laptop and using a dedicated three dongle?

Thanks for the input but I am looking for a provider who can give a good price on phone calls and broadband usage in the UK and three seem to be the only reasonable option.

FWIW I have a 3 dongle on prepay and it seems to go ok wherever I usually hang out so I assume the phone will perform the same.

So can anybody give me performance feedback on Iphone tether to laptop V buying a standalone 3 dongle.
