New part fails after 6 months?

Had a new part fitted by a main Renault dealer less than 12 months ago, looks like the same part has failed again.

Question is this, would I be able to take it to any Renault garage and pursue a replacement as the original dealer is no longer convenient? As the part should be warrantied by Renault for 12 months I would hope so, any ideas?

Ya parts should have at least a 12 month warranty. What part is it?

Was this warranty work that was done or work you paid for?

If it was work you paid for youll have to go back to the same garage. Garages are authorised by the manufacturer to sell new cars and operate as a service centre and are not actually the manufacturer themselves.

If the part was fitted under warranty then any main Renault dealer should sort you out.

If you purchased the part post-warranty then normal consumer regulations apply, you will need to take the car back to the dealer who sold you the part and get them to sort it out.

Eh feck it even the best manufacturers make a balls of it every now and then. and it's well possible the manufacturing for that particular item was contracted out to some (possibly Chinese) bunch of shysters with an even higher failure rate.

Thats how it goes, quality control process is never perfect.

I returned a thing in a shop today and had a sales person trying to convince me the particular item is built to last and has a 1 in a million return rate. pack of lies if there ever was one

This is a Renault. No need to blame the Chinese for it being crap :D
