The Master’s Section, with 12 competitors, was particularly hard fought with the two top seeds, Colm Daly FM and David Fitzsimons losing games in the early rounds. Eventually no less than 4 players tied for first place on a score of 4/6 - John Joyce of Bray/Greystones, Kilkenny Chess Club's Zaidan Zulkipli, Gonzaga’s Gordon Freeman and Elm Mount's David Fitzsimons. The Leinster Champion for 2011 is John Joyce (pictured above right) on tie-break. Dunlaoghaire's Tony Fox won a grading prize in the section.
