    hey all
Mods id appreciate this being left here for a little while so people might see it.
My sister has just had her house entered and among some other stuff her macbook stolen. she is horrified because it has a huge amount of study and work data that she needs on it for her livelihood

Its a white 13inch macbook and the serial number is w89461n98px. If anyone here sees it somewhere or gets offered to buy it, could they please post or pm me.

Im sure some reward can be arranged.

That's pretty sh*t. Hope it turns up OP.

And ignore all the people who tell you she should have bought a PC...

Apple should be able to track it for you.

    Typical thieving, junky, Dublin scum.

Hope you find it. Although they have probably watched porn on it so you might want to desterilise the keyboard if you get it back. They probably also have an std.

not much to be done im afraid, you could try offering a reward with no questions asked if the data is that important.
but still, dublin 1....it could be anywhere by now.
maybe apple have some tricks up their sleeves, try their websites or helplines.

(maybe they could have something similar to a puk code to just disable it)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 469 ✭✭geetar

On an unrelated note, I don't know why people are so skeptical about preowned computers. I just bought a preowned Macbook from some guys in D2 and it works perfectly!

OP sorry to hear about the theft. You could keep an eye out on adverts.ie. Hope she gets it back.

Someone stole my friend's laptop once,it was 7 years old, the screen was cracked and half the keyboard didn't work, we laughed so hard at the idea of some scumbag trying to sell it.:D

Be very careful with what you tell your (scumbag) insurance company. As I posted here a month ago, we were robbed and along with all our stuff they robbed our tenant's laptop etc. Being far too honest for our own good, we told the insurance company and they said that the policy was invalid because there was a fundamental change in the policy because a tenant was now living there since the policy was taken out and the insurance company had not been informed. The tenant in question was a professional person in her 40s so hardly a greater risk on the policy. But the bastards that are insurance companies will use anything to get out of paying up.

I'm sorry for your troubles. I bought a WD external hard drive the day we were robbed. It was only by the grace of God that my laptop was not in the house when they broke in. Otherwise all our digital photographic memories from our life together would have been lost - things that were much more valuable than anything else robbed.

Apologies for going off topic, but sorry to hear about the break in D.

Been there twice myself in the last 18 or so months... it's hard to get over it to be honest. I still come home expecting the place to be broken in to again every single day despite the fact that it's almost a year since the last break in.

Post in your regional forum please - Corkonians, Waterfordians and Belfastians do when their stuff gets stolen.
    Hope you get it back.
