I see more proof (if it were needed) of the NTA's more realistic approach to bus route licensing has resulted in Swords Express being able to offer an extended route to Swords Manor and restore the Sunday service from Tuesday next 3rd of May.

Full route and new timetable are here.

That's great news, it's a really comfortable and quick service to the City.
They may need to add more peak time departures as the coaches could fill up on the earlier stops.

Are the Dublin Bus express services able to use the port tunnel yet..?I remember there was a big thing about that a year or so ago.

The 41x uses the tunnel in the mornings at least.

Great news on the Swords Express extended route, can't believe it took so long, I understand they have wanted to extend pretty much since the service began. Wonder how Dublin Bus will respond to this new competition in many areas of Swords.

Maybe this is a sign that the much mooted 141 service (Swords Manor-Rathmines area via Port Tunnel all day service) might actually become a reality. The Network Direct changes might implement this however I wont be holding my breath.

The 141 was never intended to run through the port tunnel which made the objection to the service very odd. It was to be a service through Drumcondra, to enhance capacity from Swords (similar to the 140 and 151 in Finglas and Clondalkin).

I'm not sure if there are any plans for the 141 now, but I reckon once the Network Direct Swords plans are announced we will see a more direct 41 service.

If anything, this change with Swords Express should allow the 41x use the port tunnel outbound in the evenings.

How could you make the 41 more direct..?I cant see them taken it out of the airport as there are so many workers in swords.

stick a "A" on the end and run it straight from Swords through tunnel.

I only found out about this today - I'd have been some muggins at the old bus stop tomorrow morning :)

I hope it doesn't slow the service down, although the fact its not serving River Valley will be good, it seems to slow the 41C down a lot.

I heard that eirebus (who run the swords express) had stopped Dublin bus using the tunnel on the Swords routes, which is why the 41X in the morning is the only one to use the tunnel.

New SE will stop at all the stops on Murrough Road. The stops further north should be marked, the others will take a few days. They are marked on the map on website now.

Going via Forest Road actually slows us down very little. We also make up a bit of time by joining the motorway at Drinan rather than at the Airport.

Even if there was a site available there is no cash to build it.
