I have had both bad and good experiences with it. Its fairly 50:50. Im not a big fan of buying steak from a supermarket though. Your local butchers is always a better bet.

Super Valu steak is always grand imo.

I always tend to use my steak for an extra delicious stir fry though, rather than just fry up the slab of meat.

Aldi's Angus Specially Selected steaks are very good, and the price is reasonable. Recommended by many people here. The price is €10 to €12 for 2 steaks, fairly pricey, but for that you're getting restaurant quality steaks.

Yea i actually went upto aldi last weekend to get these after reading so many good reports about them. Did not get them because they are so small and for 12 euro although they might be nice I would not pay that for something that wouldnt fill me up.

That's a fair point. They aren't huge steaks it's true. I've gotten steaks almost as good for half the price.

Superquinn steaks are delicious as well. But I only buy them when on special offer, they're usually on offer at 33% off every few weeks.

I would normally agree but I got striploin steak from the butchers counter in tesco last week at €9.75 kg and it's actually top quality at a great price.

About the only good value in tesco tbh as I think their prices are always above all the other big multiples.

We always get our striploin from the Tesco butcher's counter as it is Angus and is second to none. Never seen it for 9.75 though :(

The missus bought me a very nice sirloin at our local SV yesterday, man-size potion for €1.95, thought it must have been a mis-price - delicious.

I find Spervalue meat very good - I never buy Tesco meat now because have bought it a few times and wasn't happy with it. :(
