I wonder what the sales will be like, I'd say most people who were willing to wait at the start eventually went with the black one. I dunno if I'd go for the white one over the black one to be honest, I'd say it'd get seriously grubby looking after a while.

I have to say, I was considering a white iPad 2, but after seeing them in the flesh, I wasn't impressed at all, and went for a black one.

I personally don't think the iPhone 4 looks good in white, and i can't really imagine people holding off on getting one all this time just for the colour. But Apple must think there's a market for it, even at this late stage.

Some have speculated it's a way of getting rid of iPhone 4 components before the introduction of the iPhone 5, but I'm not convinced. I think it's just that the white version was supposed to be launched at the same time as the black version, and Apple promised it so many times that they just had to deliver on it, even with the 5 just around the corner (or the corner after that).

    Big wow. A white iPhone.

Does EVERYTHING that Apple release have to fawned over and hyped to the nth degree?

In any event it looks crap compared to the black one.

Not too impressed with the white colour either think Black is much more sleek. Amazed Ireland is getting it from day one though.

The only reason this is a new event at all is because people were slamming them over the delay. You can't have it both ways.

Were not! I spoke to O2 and Carphone Warehouse today and while O2 knew there was stock coming. Carphone Warehouse told me that they knew nothing about it and probably won't have stock for a couple of weeks at least.

The 16GB white one is available on their website all day but no 32GB.

I'm keen to get my hands on one it looks well in my opinion.

What's the second opening over the earpiece?

Very very ugly in white. Surprised they even bothered releasing a white version given how particular Apple are about their products looks. But at least it keeps them in the news!!

I've had a white iPhone 4 since January, and it's perfect, nothing on it can go grubby, and in my opinion it doesn't smudge as much as my old black ip4.

I just got one today, nice to know it will hold up well.

I'm not sure on the authenticity of mine, but to the best of my knowledge it's a front and back replacement kit, that originated from the fox-con factory in china....

If it is a fake, it's after holding up well after 4 months, I'd imagine it'll be the same in 12.

Buying an iPhone 4 at this late stage in the game tho, if I dropped 600+ on a device today, and if they release a new product in a few months I'd be kicking myself!

Got my hands on the black 4 today. Loving it so far, it's a beautiful device.
Have to say I prefer the black to the white.

If you bought it in January then yeah its just a black iPhone with different plates

    Of course, I know that.

I was questioning the authenticity of the plates themselves.....

Rumours r going around that the new white Iphone is actually a little bit thicker than the old black one. I was wondering if anyone can put that to the test?

You can see the difference here, looks like it may be an issue for certain cases.

True, i got one yesterday and the front casing on the white one is slightly thicker (0.2mm) then the black one. The back is the same though.

Doesn't make a blind bit of difference being honest. :D

    Hi Guys

I ordered a white 16gb through the 02 online store on wednesday. It still hasn't shipped yet. I thought it was next day delivery. Anyone any experience in ordering online from o2 ?

I ordered mine from 3 online yesterday it arrived this morning and I'm in love with it! I prefer the white much more than the black to be honest :)

the white one is nice with some extras on board.

  • Moderators, Music Moderators Posts: 3,793 Mod ✭✭✭✭eeloe

    What extras?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,467 ✭✭✭jimmynokia

look at the link i provided above

I presume your refering to this line:
This might explain the added thickness to the white iPhone 4 - they've may put some extra stuff behind the white glass.

There isn't any extras onboard. Its probably an extra layer of epoxy or UV resist, the original white iPhone had problems with yellowing. Its a problem with materials, not sensors etc.

EDIT: And I have to say you'd be mad to buy this if you own a black one currently. Its like owning a Ferrari and deciding a month before the new version that you don't like the color, so you buy the old one in a different color.

YEP i was once the same with nokia i had the N80 in silver then the black one came out then the same with the N95 then the black one came out
ALL IN ALL IT COST ME.

Considering moving to android myself never gave the iphone a chance
so im looking at that or the galaxy ace.

looks well in white i have to say
one thing i am not happy about is signing up to 3 for 2 year or 18 months for that matter

End of the day it's each to their own. We are know the iPhone4s/5 will be a slight variations on the current model and offer all these gizmos that none of us really need but feel we must have.

As for Ferrari's if you can afford one in yellow you can afford to buy another in any colour.

Are you sure, reports are there are of similar thickness

As for the camera, and sensor changes I think we were aware of this due to the issues with light penetration

They are of similar thickness. The white one that i have is slightly thicker than the black on i had though, definitely. I'm pretty sure its just the front cover that is thicker and not the back though.
