Silly Question

What exactly does it mean if one is referred to as the 'candidate of choice'?

Never heard this expression before, so thought I'd ask. I've got a fair idea myself, but wanted to see what others thought...

    TIA :)

I don't know in what context the phrase was used but my opinion would be that the ' candidate of choice ' refers to the person deemed most desirable by the employer ( i.e. the one likely to get the job ).
