    Hi All,

Firstly I think I may be crazy contemplating a Marquee wedding but the hotel we are interested in doesnt have a dedicated function room but the location is amazing. But is it mad money to be paying? We would only only need the Marquee full set up, with all the trimmings the hotel itself would be providing the food, bar and bathrooms as it would be set up off the patio of the hotel itself. There would be 120 sitting and possibly up to 200 at the evening.

I will take any advise anyone has at all, if I am mad feel free to tell me so!!! I just keep think that a sit down meal in a hotel for that many people would be in the price range of 5-6k......

    Thanks!!!:)

I know marquees will have come down in price purely because there are less events happening. Just shop around...

North east marquees also known as wedding marquees Ireland is owned by a really lovely man in Drogheda. My parents used to own a marquee company so I would know him through that. I'd say he'd be willing to travel around the country etc.

Your best bet is to ring them up or a marquee company closer to you if you wish, explain what you want and then let them quote you. Each marquee is sized to requirement and quoted to requirement like you dont need extras like tables chairs loos etc. as the hotel can provide all that...you dont even need a kitchen marquee. The only thing I would suggest is that you get a walkway from the hotel to the marquee as it may rain and people will get their clothes wet running back and forth to the loo. Once you have your quote you'll know where you stand and can decide if it is realistic with the budget that you have.

My friend had about 60 at her wedding and had loads of gazebos joined together. Her wedding was in June and it lashed and we had high winds for about an hour. The groom and his men ended up hanging onto the gazebos for dear life and got soaked but they managed to not fly away. I think my point is that you can never count on the weather and with a proper marquee, although it may be a bit expensive, you have the piece of mind that it would take a hurricane for it to blow away.

    Best of luck

I would second North East Marquees, on the other note it will push the prices up quite a bit. I was thinking of getting married in Castle Leslie in Monaghan and they have a Marquee setup for the function room for full weddings so it had the good points of the marquee but none of the extra cost attached although it was pricey enough
