As the title suggests my dell will only boot about half way and stops . It says 'resuming windows ' and the boot progress bar gets stuck about halfway across . Any ideas guys? Tried holding the start button and booting but no joy same thing happens

How long have you left it running?
It's possible that your laptop is trying to run a chkdsk /f to analyse/repair the file system integrity of your hard disk. This may be running in the background and all you see is the Starting Windows screen.

Next time, as the previous poster says, hit F8 on startup and try and start Windows in Safe Mode. If that doesn't work, hit F8 on startup and try and start in a Command Window.

If that works type chkdsk c: /f
and let it run it's course. Let us know how you get on.
