Does anyone know where I will get one ? I refuse to go into Halfords and I know the stickers are no longer necessary, thanks.

I'm sorry if my posts are misleading and I appreciate your suggestions but I want a shop I can walk into and physically hand over cash to a person who I can see and talk to.

Any of the Carrolls chain of stores have them

I've seen them in garages on the stands where they sell motoring bits and bobs.

So the question is "where in Dublin can I find IRL stickers?".
    Answer - any motor factors.

Question - is it still mandatory to have one of those on your car whilst travelling abroad?

Do you remember back in the day - when going on trips to the uk with an IRL sticker on when the IRA were active, you'd feel terribly self conscious (well i did).

Got blown! out of it a few times at junctions because of it.

if you have legal post 91 plates with euro flag you don't need one (as the op mentioned)

Your country designation is on the reg plate.

You still see GB stickers on cars though, sometimes because the reg is the simple yellow one without the EU standardisation, but also sometimes even along side the correct reg plate...

So no there's no need. And to the OP, it looks silly with the sticker on and just makes you look a bit simple.

What do you want to talk to them about when you're buying your IRL sticker? Also curious as to why you refuse to go into Halfords? Halfords would have been my first suggestion although I have seen these in Carrolls, but I find this shop expensive.

...yeah, that's 'cos there's still a lot of anti-EU sentiment within the UK generally. Technically, they're supposed to have the flag and GB marking's on the plate...........but the UK said they weren't going to do it, and that the EU could take a flying jump............

...sometimes they have the right idea: they have preserved the route of Direct Access to motorcycle licences for rider's over 21 (no restriction period), despite the EU doing their damndest to halt it.

Good for the UK, that's what I say.

......the enemy of my enemy is my friend - isn't that whay they say ? :D

    Ode To The Motorist

“And my existence, while grotesque and incomprehensible to you, generates funds to the exchequer. You don't want to acknowledge that as truth because, deep down in places you don't talk about at the Green Party, you want me on that road, you need me on that road. We use words like freedom, enjoyment, sport and community. We use these words as the backbone of a life spent instilling those values in our families and loved ones. You use them as a punch line. I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the tax revenue and the very freedom to spend it that I provide, and then questions the manner in which I provide it. I would rather you just said "thank you" and went on your way. Otherwise I suggest you pick up a bus pass and get the ********* ********* off the road”

:) I just have a personal dislike for Halfords, not politically motivated.

I was trying to get one last year.
I asked i about 5 different motor factors in Mayo, and none of them had it.
The one available in halfords was awfully big and costs afair 10 quid.
Finally I found one in some local Irish souvenier shop in Westport for 2 euros.

While traveling within EU you don't need one, but AFAIK if you are planning to drive outside EU you need one.
