I got an Iphone 3gs some time ago, 2nd hand.I have been a PAYG customer with O2, until last week. Got a sim from another network provider and took my 086 number with me. I made the mistake of not checkiong if the phone was unlocked first. Now I have no phone number

I requested the unlock code, but got an email saying I have not topped up by €150 and the unlock code could not be given to me. I had been with O2 for about 10 years as a PAYG customer. Is there anyway to get the phone unlocked, since my 086 number is now with another network.....that I cant use.

I'd rather just have O2 send me the code, I'm wondering if I ring them again and explain the situation would they be helpful.

i'm using version 4.2.1 with Modem firmware 05.15.04 Does it depend on these? would it be simple to do myself if O2 are unhelpful
    /unwilling?
I just want to be able to use my new sim card, with the number I have had for 10 years.

You can try asking O2 directly on the Talk To section on here on Boards.ie they should be able to help.
