Israel Engagement Ring

Hello, I'm travelling to Israel in July and am thinking of buying a diamond engagement ring there. I believe there is a place called Ramat Gan in Tel Aviv where there's a big diamond exchange. I don't know if this is a wholesalers area for the industry or if there are shops for members of the public. Has anyone any knowledge/expereince or advice? Would like to know if prices are competative and if well regulated?
    Would appreciate help!

I don't know much about Israeli diamonds but I do know that there is quite a big diamond industry there.

Yup, Ramat Gan is the place, but not sure how competitive the prices are- from my experience Israel can be just as expensive as Ireland for many things, but not sure if this stretches to wedding rings

I am not sure if the prices there will be much different from what you get in Ireland really, perhaps you could get a better deal than in Dublin, knowing that e.g. Grafton St overheads for outlets are enormous which naturally has to be reflected in the prices of their products... but no one can guarantee you will not be ripped off...
There is a good diamond blog http://www.truthaboutdiamonds.com/ written by a guy who lives in Israel, he seems to know a lot about that industry and also reviews the various online websites selling diamonds etc.
