Hi I dont know if anyone will be able to help, but my sister recently moved into a new place and amidst the pile of rubbish left in the back yard by a previous tenent was an old saxaphone which i bought off her for 50quid because i couldnt watch it being thrown out. As far as I can make out from the inscription (its not in brilliant shape but seems fixable) its The Indiana by Martin Eckhart Ind, there is more but i cant make it out, does anyone know anything about it? Its hard to find alot of info online and i would like to know how i would go about getting it restored properly? Thank you

Might this be similar to what it is?

Yes, thanks, its most like engraving phase 3 the 5th pic on the far right, it has 00-15 under it and something else i cant make out, i checked the seriel no which puts it 1926 but then another site said the Indiana range was made in the 40's?

I'd give that bad boy a serious clean before even attempting to put it near your mouth - disinfectant is a must...

Take it in to Paul Ryan's music shop in temple bar, he'll have a good idea about it.:)

Agreed with the Paul Ryan advice, worth a trip. It will be expensive to fully refurbish and may not be worth it. Not all vintage saxophones are great sounding, and the keying on them is not always fantastic!
This guy has lots of interesting info about fixing up a saxophone : http://www.shwoodwind.co.uk/index.htm . If your handy you may be able to do a lot of the work yourself and save a few quid :-)
    Have fun!
