Recently our local cinema Gate in Mallow changed their 3d system from reald to masterimage and since then all 3d films have varying degrees of crosstalk or ghosting like you get on a 3dtv. Is this supposed to be there or should I just change to a different cinema for 3d viewing as Its preatty annoying, Some scenes in Thor and Legend of the guardians looked horrendous :(.

Like Read-D, MasterImage uses circularly polarised glasses. Unlike the old linearly polarised glasses of the 80s which would cross-talk if you tilted your head, there shouldn't be any cross-talk from those glasses. I'd guess the problem is in the projection booth. I've not been to a cinema that used MasterImage, but my guess is that the cinema's equipment has a problem of some sort.

EDIT: I'd complain to the manager, say you think there may be a problem with their equipment. If the problem persists, change cinema.

Are there any cinemas with imax 3d or at least crosstalk free 3d in the Cork Area I have told the manager about it but the quality of the 3d varies per film, it mght just be a source issue.

Bumping this thread because green lantern had the worse 3d crosstalk I've ever seen couldn't watch the whole film

Saw it in the Savoy Dublin and in the parts where it was a white object on a black background (like in space) there was some pretty obvious ghosting going on. So it could be the film contributing in this case, but it's the only 3D film I've seen there so can't say for certain.
