I work in laptop repair and in the last 2 years I have seen one Lenovo, I specifically remember it because it was unusual to see a Lenovo. I cant remember what was wrong with it, could have even been a virus and nothing to do with the actual hardware. I know their sales to the public are a lot lower then most brands and that could explain why I don't get any in to fix but they do sell a fair few and I haven't seen anything to suggest any of the models have re occurring problems.

We switched from Dell's to Lenovo's about 4 years ago in the office (approx 40 laptops).
Had issues with about 10% of the Dells over a 3 year period.
All Lenovos still going well after 4 yrs.
The quality is excellent, and they are light but sturdy.

I've always had a problem with the appearance of Lenovo laptops, but that's just me.

Lenovo are made by IBM - theyre built like tanks. You wont have anny issues with them and any you do have will be easily resolved, like HDD failure and software problems !

Their support is great too.. unlike a certain Hell sorry, Dell.

IBM have had no involvement in years. The Chinese government is the largest shareholder in Lenovo. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lenovo#Ownership

Nope - I agree with you on this. It's a very good point. Over the past 5 years, most laptop manufacturers have radically updated the designs and layout of their laptops, but Lenovo's look pretty much the same now as they did then.

Still though, they are very sturdy & reliable and never had any issues with ours.

Lenovo's don't have the same feel for durability as the old IBM thinkpads. Still makes them better than almost else anything out there. If performance isn't an issue, eg typing a thesis you could do worse than a second hand IBM (just remember to backup offsite often , which you should be doing anyway)
It doesn't have a Windows key.

But you can assign one by using theLenovo Keyboard Customizer Utility.

Nice computers but god help you if you require support. They told me after 4 weeks that they are waiting for spare parts. still waiting with at least 2 more weeks before PC will be returned. Help desk are sub contracters as as repair centre, useless.

I got one a few years back, spent a decent wedge on it but it's been flawless. I reckon they look pretty good as well, it's a style you don't get sick off. The keyboard quality is much better than any other laptops I've used. Was looking for ages on what to get as it needed to do me for a good few years. In the end the lenovo offered great value for money and I'm glad I decided to get it.

Would not dispute any of the above .Problem is when something goes wrong ,and you have to send it back .Support (I use that word loosely ) is non existant .Worse even than pixmania. I am without a laptop for over a month ,with no end in sight .Unacceptable imho .

Pity I didn't see this thread earlier. Here's an account of my dealings with them, going to have to bring them to court to get it sorted I reckon.
