How Do I Pay For A Course On Social Welfare

I applied for a course in the Bray Institute Of Further Education ( http://www.bife.ie/ )

I got offered a place on a course. I got a letter the other day saying I needed to pay a registration fee of 350 |Euro within 15 work days.

My weekly income on Job Seekers Benefit is 72 Euro. So I can't nearly afford to pay for the course within 15 days.

I talked to some very unhelpful person at the social welfare office & they said that they pay a weekly "back to eduction" allowance during the duration of the course but they do not pay the registration fee.

Can anybody point me in the right direction as to where I'm suppose to go to get this course paid?

    Thank You

the back to education allowance is paid at €188 per week at the moment.
you also get a book allowance of €500 (cash into bank account) after 4 - 8 weeks of starting your course.

for course fee's, you need to apply to your local VEC/county council offices for them to pay your fee's. sadly, I dont think applications are available YET, and since you need to pay the €350 within 15 working days I dont think you will even get a response by then.

Have you tried contacting the college and asking them to postpone the payment until september?

Would it be possible to apply for a short term loan with either a Bank or credit union?

Would any family member be able to help you with a short term loan?

You so right ya know,as if your taking it out of their pockets!

Maybe if you spoke to the college and explained it they might give ya a bit lean way because it is quite early in the year to be asking for the registration fee!

I hope you get something worked out either way! :)
