Hey guys just wondering could ye recommand a shotgun either an under and over or a over and under not to keen on the semi -autos. this will be my second gun as my fausti gun is nearing retireing date:D.. it will be mostly for pheasant and duck, snipe etc shooting. and the odd bit of claying budget between 800-1000 not to pushed either new or a second hand in good conadtion thanks in advance ross:D

i have to dissagree.had a lanber model 844 st for a few months and shot all round with it.600 clays was the most i shot with it but i found it a very good sturdy versatile gun.not too heavy not too light.taught it was a perfect gun.would have been sorry i got rid of it only ive been mad for a mossberg for years

Buy a beretta lad and look after it cos you wont get nothing for that rusty fausti.;)

Agree with big fella :D beretta now are going for next to nothing! There alot of shotguns on the market now and if you have a grand behind you, it will be easy to have a 1500 € gun thrown at you. Cash is king!!!!!

Go with Beretta, or Browning/Miroku. Most reliable and always accecptable
on a trade in. New Miroku sporters or game guns can be had for 1300-1400, if u could stretch to that you would have a quality new gun that would last for many years and still be worth something. Good Luck.

Go to Niall Lynch in Tullamore, he'll sort you out with a good gun!;) He might even bring your old rusty Fausti back to life! :D

Does he even trade these days?

    800-1000

I picked up a side by side last year second hand for €350. The barrels are like mirrors on the inside even if the outside looks a little worn. Yesterday I got 18 rabbits in 1 hour 20 minutes. So with 800-1000 gun quality wise you should be able to take out the cast of watership down everytime you head out ;)

I never heard of anyone who bought off him that was not in their 50's or 60's

Never in the shop myself, I was told he was getting out of that game.

Maybe his indecision will make him settle for something in between, like a side by side.:D

I wouldn't worry too much about the actual make of the gun, but would hunt around to find one that fits you. I was around a lot of farm houses recently and came across an old hammer gun in one, I asked could I look at it and mounted it a few times. This old gun came to the shoulder like it was part of me with my eye looking straight down the rib, thats what I'd look for in a gun.
