Remember about 10 years ago when Uncut magazine used to provide a free cd of the best new music releases of that month, that kind of thing introduced me to a lot of great bands, now Uncut and Mojo are offering a lot of cd's that are inpsired by a certain artist or genre which isn't exactly my cup of tea, I like new music - Word magazine is offering a CD with new music releases for the month but sometimes I'm not too keen on their selections, they tend to leave out a lot of good stuff

anyway under the radar is a mag that only comes out every 2-3 months, they allow you to go to their website and download tracks and I have to say the music on offer is generally excellent, neither too obscure or familiar, a mix of promising new bands and more established artists but all good stuff

    go to www.undertheradarmag.com/sampler/v17

and enter the following code: 3437-win11-hvy9

    and enjoy

this is breaking no laws or breaching no copyright so no need to fret

I have to say I like almost every one of the 27 tracks, whoever selected this compilation is great, I have already got 6-7 albums as a result of listening to this stuff and i'll be getting under the radar in the future if they maintain this kind of standard

Is the code taken from a purchased copy of their magazine?

Yeah, remember mags used to give away good CDs.

Me and the wife have a few from when we were first going out.
    Good times
We have a few tapes but mostly CDs (1996 - 1999).

There were loads of good stuff on them, some bogey, but good platforms for bands.
Now its music that inspired BOB DYLAN CD.

..Get home, stick it on.....Cack Sandwich.....!!!
Ol' Willy Blind Boy singing "Syphilis Blues".

    Nah your grand...!!!

(On a side not Its kinda bitter sweet listening to and reading old mags, bands like Mansun, Gay Dad, etc that were tipped to be HUUUUGE, but never followed up....)

    Thanks for that!
In a similar vein, Spinner is pretty good for new music...free songs (mp3 of the day) and also a "Listening Party" feature which has full new albums streaming...Cass McCombs' new one is on there at the minute...

Ha yeah Gay Dad, have a couple of their singles at home, really catchy tunes. Weren't they just music journos that started up the band to make a point and take the piss out of how easy it was to get a record deal?Worked for them anyway

Cheers just downloaded those. Used to get those Uncut cds every month, half the stuff on them was tripe u never wanted to listen to again but there was always a few gems on them. they introduced me to unheard of bands (at the time) like Arcade Fire and interpol.

spot on, i had heard a lot of buzz about them without actually having heard any of theit stuff before listening to that track, and what a great song it is - curious to see if the rest of their stuff is as good
