TERRIBLE hangovers only since christmas!!!

whenever i went out i used to be fairly hungover the next day... im 25, a girl, and could always deal with my hangovers. never vomitted, but had a bit of a dodgy stomach, barely a headache and very tired, never lasted more than a few hours.

but i went out last st stevens night, and had a few more glasses of wine than normal (normal for me at my age now, I used to drink ALOT more in my earlier 20s!!!)
anyway i woke up in BITS!! A flu was also coming on all that day too , but the next day i vomitted about 4 times and could only lie on the couch all day, barely able to move! it was absolutely HORRIBLE! i was sweaty and getting hot flushes!! and since that night, even tho i have NOT drank as much as i did that night, its been the same! i drink the MOST twice to three times a month!
even one night i had 4 small glasses of wine, spaced out over about 4 hours, my last glass at 11.30pm and had a pint of water before bed, and the next day, my stomach was in pieces. And this has been happening with anything i drink, not just wine! I feel faint, a feeling of warmth washes over me, Im dizzy! I was a barbeque saturday night, I had about 6-7 small beers (Bier d'Or, the really small bottles) from about 6 pm to 1am, i wasnt "drunk", i was just merry! but got invited to my boyfriends mothers house for easter sunday dinner the next day and i could barely stomach the dinner, which tasted lovely, but my stomach wasnt able... i had to leave half the dinner and apologise profusely, mortified!!! i dont get headaches at all...its just my stomach!! ANYone have any idea what this is about???? or have the same experience???? (im too stingy to pay 50 quid for the doctor to find out too to be honest!)

I know some people might say "then just dont drink"... my drinking isnt destructive to me or others around me, I dont get loo-laahed drunk and fall over the place, i just like to have a drink socially and innocently like most other people! my hangovers these days put me off drinking totally, which makes me avoid going out socialising! :( help!!!

Sounds like an allergic reaction or a stomach problem. IBS maybe?

See your doctor, that isn't right.

We're all alcoholics here, not much you can do really. You need the cure the next day I'd say.

Sounds like a stomach problem. Take a motilium before you go asleep after a night out... They are made from unicorn tears and happiness, should will do the job.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 295 ✭✭sarahlulu

I drink very rarely because of terrible hangovers, but have found a motilium before bed and I am right as rain.

As mentioned before could just be age. Could be some complex food and vitamin thing. What about smoking are you smoking more than before

    This was my first thought!

Maybe waste about €10 on a pregnancy test?

    :)

Motiliums and Alka Seltzers used to work. but lately not so much! i had a motilium the other day and it did a little bit of good! but i think it could be "psycological" aswell, that im so afraid of gettin the same hangover i got the day after stevens night, that i get the same symptoms (you know all that 'association psychology' mumbo jumbo)

Ive been smokin for a good few years now. I actually smoke less than i used to, and avoid smoking after a night out...cos thats always causes the ruination of me!! :D

I DONT WANT TO GET OLD!! :(

    :D:D:D

It's all in your head. Your body is smarter than you.

Discovered that wine=vomiting, so now has a great physical reaction to it to prevent the same from happening again.

I'm no gynaecologist, but I'll have a look...

I read somewhere that wicked, disproportionate hangovers in women are sometimes a symptom of this

Afraid so OP. this is the way you are now. Soon enough they will start spreading out over 2 days. I go out on Fridays now, as I need the full weekend to recover.
Try westcoast coolers every second drink instead of wine all night, makes the suffering a bit less severe the next day.
