Job seekers allowance

Hi, looking for a bit of help with the question below....

In the company my wife works for, they are "restructuring" resulting in about 1 in 4 people losing their jobs. There is a generous redundancy package and my wife is tempted to apply. If she gets this, would she then be able to get "job seekers allowance" for 12 months after she leaves her current job (after which it is means tested).
Also, if she decides to re-apply for her job (everyone has to) and she is offered a role and then decides within a company defined 6 month window to take the redundancy package instead, is she also entitled to 12 months job seekers allowance ? ....

    Thanks in advance.

Job Seekers Allowance is means-tested whereas Job Seekers Benefit is not and it is the benefit that your wife would be able to claim upon redundancy for a period of around 12 months.
Voluntary redundancy does not disqualify a person from getting benefits once they are available for and seeking work.
Be aware that redundancy payments will be counted in a means-test situation along with your income as a spouse.
