Brought back an uko2 iphone 18 months ago and had it unlocked, my son did a restore on it when i gave it to him and now its bricked, saying insert valid sim to activate.

Anyone can suggest a place in dublin that can sort out this problem?

It's not bricked. The restore did away with the unlock. As for a valid sim; it was bought in Britain you'll need a sim from there to activate it.

IMO, unlocked is unlocked, the information resides with Apple's servers.

Stick a SIM in and activate it. Should not be a problem.

If it was officially unlocked then it should activate with a Sim, if it was ultrasnowed then it will need the original carriers Sim to activate it.

Just so you know, just because the iPhone is not unlocked, does NOT mean it's a brick. A brick is when your phone is damaged beyond repair which leads to a paperweight 'brick'.
