Guys, in general I love the station, but for God's sake stop cutting decent songs in half or worse at the top of the hour - and elsewhere!

Last night I heard Donald Fagen come on and turned up the radio to enjoy it, only for it to be unmercifully cut after 35 seconds!

I turned off as a result.

Today an Alison Moyet song got cut after about 2 mins and it was the FIRST song after the news.

The aim to play decent stuff that other places don't play is great, and commendable, but remember that if you play it and someone does love it, cutting the bollox off it will just piss those people off.

It's unforgiveable, and will lose ye listeners.

They cut a song just before the 9pm news. It was so short they could have used the clip for a beat the intro competition.

    Sounds horrible, careless radio!

They may as well hand their licence back to the BAI if that's the case and not wwast any more time or money, if that's what they're trying to save because it's not listeners they're trying to save and keep.

Thats a lot of crap to own.

Sounds like the station is barely running on bare bones. Your average bedroom pirate treats music far better than many a so called professional station./

Technically, Bay Broadcasting (which Kevin Brannigan co-owns - I believe) own 99% of 4FM.

It certainly is, especially at just 35 seconds! As one who's earned his living in radio for more than twenty years I wouldn't have believed that that sort of thing would go on in an amateur/pirate station, let alone a professional outfit before you pointed it out.

I gave up on listening to them last week, after persevering for quite a while.

It's the same songs over and over anyway, bar the fillers at the end of the hour, which tended to be quite good, for the few seconds of play they got.

Obscure mid chart blandness from the eighties doesn't cut it for me, must be cheaper to pay the rights on it, I guess.
