Pah! I've taken off on narrower than that:p. Not on a road though I was fascinated to find out that routinely landing on road is quite legal in Alaska. That's a flying lesson I never thought I'd see, being taught to fit in with the flow of traffic. It would never work in Ireland though, too many utility poles.

I'm afraid I didn't really buy into the concluding scene where the Instructor confidently suggested that his nineteen year old student was ready to be a bush pilot. Very much a TV moment that.

I love the big balloon "Tundra" tires that the bush planes use for off airport landings.

Ice pilots nwt is another great programme, seen the first two eps of season two and all of season one.. its a bit tv-ish, but to see the DC-3's and DC-4's still flying is amazing.. gotta love WWII piston pounders..

Not really related to the topic but two other good programmes that use to be on were Flight Deck where a camera crew would sit in on a particular flight with a certain series of aircraft. They did the MD-80,737-400,747-400 etc etc.And Flight Line hosted by Brendan O Brien(covered alot of G.A stuff).

I remember this,The 737 one had a pilot who later appeared in one of the ITVV videos,i also remember a programme on the DC8 cargo aircraft, they were even interviewing the pilots in the hotel over a lash of pints and one clip showed the lads coming in to land with the pilot smoking away!!!!

Second episode was good but quite honestly didn't anyone at the edit stage notice the difference between a DHC Otter with a turbine conversion and a Beaver with a big radial engine. It was bloody obvious. You really didn't have to be an autistic spotter to notice that.
