In case anyone doesn't know the difference in price is huge, in Boots in Ireland it's something like €25.99 for large pack of freshmint 2mg Nicorette, in Wilkinson's in England the same product is £8.24.

So for anyone looking to give up fags and taking or considering taking Nicorette, try and get them in UK if possible if you happen to be there, you will save a lot of money.

Rip off Ireland once again in full effect.

I'd double check the sizes on this - large packs seem to be about £20 in most uk retailers including amazon

Ah, like so many people who post here, you don't comapre like with like.

Comparing a short term special offer with a standard price is totally ridiculous. You need to compare like with like.

Standard price for 105 pack is £13.49 in UK - about €16. Still a big difference. But its NOT the retailer that has the difference its the manufacturer.

All pharmacies work on a 33% margin on pharmacutical products (50% mark up on cost) Same in UK and probably many other countries.

You need to get onto Mc Neill heathcare and ask them why there's such a difference between the 2 markets.

£8.24 in Wilkonsons mate that is cheaper than anywhere else i know, works out just over a tenner in euro, they can keep their €25.99 i live between UK and Ireland at present so i can easily pick them up for cheap i was just posting here to inform people who might be taking or consider taking them if they happen to be in UK to buy them while they are there and they will save a packet.

PS-It's been £8.24 now for the last few months so i highly doubt that is a short term special offer!

that's a lot different to the op. In the op you are effectively saying that the irish retailer is ripping you off, but its the pharmacy pricing system here which is controlled by the manufacturers and government - not the retailer.

Could it be possible that the NHS funds nicotine replacemnet therapy for patients and people can get perscriptions from their GP? Therefore they cannot ask people for a crazy price or everyone would just go to their (free) GP and take a perscription?

Just a guess and i could be wayy off!

Yes it does as you are posting a false statement. IMO it is far better suited to bargain alerts. Are Irish employees ripping off their employers because the same work can be done in the UK for 25% less? - no, Its called market difference.

btw, I get my hayfever sprays from New Zealand because they are half the price (including delivery fees). GlaxoSmithKline manufacture it there and sell it at a far cheaper price than UK @ £9.50 or Ireland @ €13. I don't think UK or Irish retailers are ripping me off, I'm just taking advantage of their pricing strategy in another country. Likewise other remedies are cheaper here than NZ, but they don't work for me.

Next time = Bargain alerts and more people will see it and get use from it.

you sound like you work in a chemists, market difference my boll*x, there's a serious difference between €25.99 and £8.24 regardless on how much more it costs to operate in this sham of a country,it's like a pair of Armani jeans i seen in Brown Thomas for €220 the same pair were £65 in England, now there's market difference and just plain rip off, this is the latter.

The £8.49 is a special offer - offer = £5 off selected nicorette products until end of promotion. So as I said earlier the REAL comparison is normal retail price v normal retail price.

It's $40+ in USA and its AUD$50+ in Australia which suggest Irish prices are on par with most other countries and UK prices are much cheaper especially when on special offer. - So bargain alert as its an OTC medicine and if you need the product you can get it a lot cheaper whilst this promotion lasts.

I don't have any interest in the pharmacy maket, but i do understand market pricing and the way pharmacuetical companies in particular have pricing structures based on the whole heath system in each market.

It's £8.24 not £8.49 and unless this is a special offer which has been on since last November i doubt it is that, this is the price they charge in Wilkonson in Leeds, it's dearer in Boots and Superdrug but this has been the price in Wilkonson since late last year.

That's a shocking difference! Must tell my Mam, she buys a box every week so it'd be worth her while to stock up.

I see on a phew UK pharmacy sites they sell boxes of 210 pieces for roughly the price a box of 105 costs here too

You think that's bad, don't come to Spain. The cost here is €11.40 for a packet of 30. That's €39.90 for a pack of 105!
