Aer Lingus check in problems

Hi, I'm flying Aer Lingus for the first time this week and am having problems with online check in. I am able to check in for the outbound flight but not the return- has anyone else had this problem? I usually fly ryanair and have always been able to check in for both legs of the journey in one go.
I'm confused as to the difference between advance check in and online check in.
As Aer Lingus is not a budget airline, is online check in even necessary?

    thanks for any help!

    is it a budget airline...

As for the issues is it that the return leg is too far away? Ryanair has a 15 (iirc) day limit before you can check in. Maybe AL have something similar...

there's nothing budget about their prices :p
the return journey is less than a week away and you can check in up to 30 days in advance.

New short-haul planes are going to have split-classes, base fare has increased - its not budget anymore, that experiment failed.

I think some airports they fly to don't let you do online checkin.
Is it Amsterdam Schippol by any chance? Fairly sure you have to check-in at the desk or the machines when you are flying out of there.

thanks for the reply- no it's just an internal flight from england to ireland. I've just got it sorted now, didn't realise you have to check in separatley for each leg of the journey :o

England to Ireland is not an Internal Flight.......:D

With Aer lingus, if you pay in advance for a chosen seat, you can check in up to 30 days in advance for certain routes.

If you would rather not pay for a certain seat, you can check in 30 hours before and select any remaining seat for free.

It is available from the vast majority of airports Aer Lingus fly to.

Online check in "isnt necessary" on Aerlingus, not because its a budget airline or whatever, but because they offer you other options.

And Aerlingus are still far cheaper than the vast majority of "full service carriers" in Europe, who think nothing of charging 500 or 600 euro for a one way ticket on a short hop in Europe.
