Is the engine warning light coming on with ignition?

is it automatic? if so id be looking at the inhibit switch ontop of the box. easily checked in live data with a decent scanner. there are numerous things that can cause these symptoms so you have to go to someone who has a decent scanner ideally a tech2.

    no its a manual 6spd

no engine check light or glow plug light

Ok, this is a fair common problem on these, I have repaired about ten of these. Basically you have a broken wire between the engine main relay and the engine ecu, to identify this fault you need to remove engine ecu and just bridge the two lager main pins and car should then start (if I can remember correctly, the main relay is the red one in the main fusebox under the bonnet) location is shown in the owners manual page 234;-)

right so wer is the engine ecu located is it on side of the unit wit brake pipes leading to it.. i have bridged the ecu relay the red one i was told to do this but no result.. som your saying to bridge large pins on the ecu

No the ecu is behind the front bumper under the drivers headlamp... No always bridging the female pins of the main relay works, the ultimate fix it to replace the affected wire but if bridging is not getting the engine light to come on with ignition you either have dif prob or not doing it correctly..

located the ecu took the two plugs of it and one plug has 4 large female pins .am on the right line ..

No the large pins on the ecu are not the ones related to your fault you need to cross pin 30 and 87 on the relay only
