Fine looking dog there, torn between rough or smooth coated one myself, prefer docked one though

tfox, when I got him at 8 weeks he wasn't docked and I wasn't too sure what to do with him but after a bit of advice from a couple of lads here I decided that if he didn't "need to be docked" then I'd leave him alone and to be honest I think he looks fine. He's never goin to be "shown" anyway.
    But each to their own

They'll track deer but I doubt a female would be able to hold one. I've had people (a certain "type" of person) ask me was mine a Ridgeback and would I trade it....
    Definitely not my friend.
They're a great dog with a fantastic temperament and I'd recommend them to anyone.

    Agree 100%.
As I said in a previous thread,I brought my lad for a walk down town to get him used to people and was asked on 2 occasions if he was a ridgeback and would I sell him( would have been paid in lengths of carpet and 5 bar gates tho).
As regards temperment I have a Golden Retriever as well and I thought that he was affectionate until I got the Vizsla. They are not called the "velcro dog" for nothing.

The are a real strong dog but not as big as a Weimeraner or German Pointer and they will go all day.( I currently run my fellow beside me when I go mountainbiking and I'll be beat a long time before he gives up).

He's not old enough yet to know if he will be good to hunt but he is showin all the signs.

    Spunk
Your're mad to turn him into a Ridgeback, this is the second time you have said that:):)

By the way is your fella still putting all us amateur trainers to shame ?

I'm trying to use your training methods for the Vizsla(albeit about 6 months behind you).Teaching him to retrieve with the piece of string on the dummy etc
    Viz

Viz it's just jealously LoL I think the dog looks great but then if you paint the dog grey it would look like a weimaraner:eek: LOL maybe they all descend from one another in some way but do look at abit alike.

I havent had him at as much as I want, I had him in Doneda forest park the other week for a walk, flushed a few cocks. I thought he was going to have brain anarism with all the ducks on the pond they had:p most of been 150+ and not inculding chicks, I had him sit on the bank at a "stay" command while all the ducks where flighting in and out, he look like he was having a fit with all the shaking he did:D

Hopefully we get out together when your dog is ready, love to see it work!!!!
