Rent Tax Back - How to calculate?

Hi Everyone

I live with my boyfriend and we are renting a flat.
I was said that there is a 400eur tax back claim possible for the people who rent a flat. I'm talking about 2010.
The rent is 950eur per month.
I wonder how the tax back is calculated and how it is better for us to claim it.
1. Each one of us declare a 475eur rent. Is that enought to receive the 400eur both? (is there a minimum to declare to receive the all 400eur?).
2. We declare only on the better salary for the total 950 eur.

Is that tax back also available for people sharing an house if each occuper declare only the part he pays?

I spent a lot of time on websites as revenue.ie and was not able to find those informations.

If ye both pay half the rent ye can make an equal claim for tax back in 2010. the 400 euro refund will be available if you have paid 2K each (for the year 2010) and actuallly paid 400 euro of tax each (and by tax i mean paye and not prsi or income/health levies)

No matter how much you put through for one of ye, the most one person can get is 400 ie the amount is capped at 2K rent at 20%
