Custom Fitting Questions

    Hi,

Long time reader, first time poster in the golf section. I have a few questions about getting clubs custom fitted and figured this would be the best place to ask. Basically I used to play a good bit of golf when I was younger but gave up playing regularly when I was 15. At the time I had only bought a cheap set on Dunlop clubs and I have been using them up till now. 10 years on I am back playing and have fallen back in love with the game.

The dunlops have served me well over the years but it's time to trade up. Some of the heads of the irons have slipped slightly away from the shafts leaving a 1cm or so gap (can't for the life me think about what this is called). The advances in golf club technology over the last 10 years have astounded me. Purchased a TM Burner driver last year and difference between this and my old driver is frightening. Some may say that the technology is making it easier, which I wouldn't argue with, but for me I am happy just getting out, playing a decent round an enjoying myself.

Was thinking of getting the TM Burner 2.0 irons but I would be open to suggestions on something else (18 handicap by the way). I know a guy who works as a golf club pro in the UK so I will get him to order me the clubs at cost price. I want to get custom fitted but I will need to get the specs from the fitting to send to him. I know places do custom fitting with the aim of you buying the clubs off them so I can't imagine there are many who will give you the specs after the fitting that easily. My question is are there any places that are happy to receive a fee for the fitting and give you the specs afterwards knowing that you do not intend to buy from them?

I don't want to have to lead someone on and pretend I'll buy from them in the hope that they give me the specs and for me to pull out of the deal at the last minute. I may be being silly but surely there must be places that are happy to be getting the business of the custom service alone. I live and play in north Dublin so ideally would like to go some place local.

Thanks in advance for your help/advice lads.

I went to Fore Golf, and I know they would be happy to give you the information to you - http://www.foregolf.ie/ . I dont know if other places would do the same, but a quick ring around would answer your questions. I doubt anyone would do a better job than these guys, they are very good.
