Why is it a diesel? I would think someone with 150k has money to spend on fuel for the 5.0 petrol 500bhp model.

    WTF.

Haven't they heard. 2006 was a different country.

    This is Ireland.

Walk into a Land Rover dealership and ask for a petrol and they'd probably laugh at you.

One of the most vulgar 'merchant banker' designs to grace our roads. That is the normal one.
THIS one, I have no words for it.

    What are you on about?

Even the old pre-2008 naturally aspirated petrol delivered 300bhp.. a far cry from 100bhp less than the twin turbo diesel. Land Rovers 2010 "super diesel" is at the same performance figures as VWs "super diesel" was in 2003. Personally I find that kinda rubbish.

I'd say he is probably talking about this line in the add. "ONYX Engine Upgrade UP TO 630 BHP With Pulley System and ONYX Enhancements"

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 12,102 ✭✭✭✭Drummerboy08

Words cannot describe how hideous that is.

I saw that, which sounds like they supercharged it?

Pulley system would suggest a supercharger. Although IMO, it would want to have a fair bit of accompanying work to pull an extra 300+ bhp from it???

Can much power be taken from tweek maps on diesels?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 4,056 ✭✭✭Tragedy

Depends. Plenty of large displacement engines(mostly american :p) that don't need a huge amount of work to get 200+hp from just adding a supercharger, but a extremely modern and advanced diesel is a slightly different prospect.

I don't see a remap/new induction system/new exhaust literally doubling the power either.

If an A8 cannot pull it off, a Range Rover has no chance.

Whatever about the Chrome, the A8 is some beast of a car.
