Losing my security job

I was told last week that my security job in Drogheda was finishing on April 30th I have been on alternating 48 hour/36 hour weeks since I began work in 2006, as have my 3 co-workers. Our employer said there's no hope of the four of us retaining these hours and that we'll likely be on 20-30 hours and in a different location. If we decide to refuse this offer and claim redundancy what would the procedure be? Any help would be appreciated

has your employer offered redundancy in lieu of you not taking up the new reduced hours.

if you refuse to take a reduction in hours and change of "reasonable" location you may not be entitled to redundancy.

We were told to "forget about redundancy". We were wondering what our options were. We were told we could be put in Navan, Ashbourne or Dublin. On 20-30 hours we don't think it's feasible.

If you've been with the company for less then 2 years they are right; mandatory redundancy payments only kick in after 2 years employment. Assuming this is the case you're only options are to take the new position or be made redundant.

I've been with the company for 5 years, and my 3 co workers are with the company even longer.

Then you would most likely have the right to redundancy due to change of working location and hours. As they've stated no redundancy I'll assume state only which would be on a general level 2 weeks pay per year of employment + 1 week.
