Hey, I'm 23 and returning to college in September as a mature student studying Journalism in DCU. Obviously I'm looking forward to it very much but will be moving from Limerick and this is the daunting part!

I think living on campus or in one of the student accommodations near by would suit me the most in first year but can't find information as to whether I'd be living with other mature students or not?

Is the Post-Grad accommodation block in DCU also for maturies?

In a word no. And I tried, I'm 29 and I didn't fancy living with the 'kids'. I moved on campus for my final year and lived in Hampstead. On several occassions before moving on campus I tried to get them to accept me into postgrad accomodation, even had college management ask, and they just refused to allow it.

Don't let that detract you - living on campus is AMAZING craic, so handy for everything but to be honest bloody expensive. The Laundry room is a rip off.

No - if your course is an undergrad one then you'll be put with undergrad students in Larkfield, Hampstead or College Park :(

Take it from another mature student - LIVE ANYWHERE BUT LARKFIELD I had a horrible year living there.

Dont get me wrong living on campus definately has its perks such as being so close to everything and you litterally do not have an excuse to miss any events.

    Negatives for Larkfield
Larkfield was a barage of false fire alarms at all hours of the day/night. You have idiots making ridiculous amount of noises (I like to party but they take the mik) and the walls are made of thin bricks so all types of noise travel from both above and beside you.

There is no sitting room for you and your new or old friends to hang out and watch tv - you have a common room but after a few ppl trashed one of the common rooms last semester - that privelage was removed and all common rooms locked permanently.

Living on Campus is EXPENSIVE no matter where you select - so look at all options plus in DCU SU building there are posters and posters for rooms available but check out daft.ie as well for sharing/letting.
