    Hey guys,

Could really do with some help, going slightly mad.
So started a new document in Word (2007) and the default language changed to French and everything was underlined in red, couldn't get quotation marks etc.

Went to set language, changed it back to English etc. No joy. Did combination of this step again and again with and without selecting "detect language automatically". Googled and followed people tips. No joy.

Finally went and checked everything in Windows language is set to English. No joy.

Don't know why this is happening and it's driving me mad. Any tips?

When you say the default language is in French are you referring to the language in the menu's or is it just the spell check.

Is it possible that the normal template has French as the default editing language.

    Have a look at http://www.lizjamieson.co.uk/2007/12/03/how-to-set-the-default-language-dictionary-on-microsoft-word-2007/

You have probably tried it but some of the comments may help.

    for current document
Ctrl_A to select all text and then set the language to English

this you will have to do for each existing document that it isnt' set to already

setting the normal template will only affect new doucments created with it from that point on

A magic button that said - convert all documents I load into English/A4 would be nice
