it will be very tight next year ... milk supplies this april are above last april... i would thread very carefully tbh, you have a serious amount of cows for a quota that size imo

I'd say about 38k gallons plus whatever you can lease. Its early days yet but there is no shortage of milk anywhere in the country. Kerry were 5 million under last year but supplies way up on expected deliveries. But if you like gambling............

when you are under 70000 gls 90% of fleximilk is available to you .the big ?is how much will be available as i think anyone whos under will get milk practically for free from lads.my stab is up to 10% ok,up to 20%getting risky but weigh your circumstances, over 20 % definately going to get done.gauge according to months full by xmas ,no milk check till end of may, long time to wait for money if you only go over for march you only waiting a month. consider delay bulling, early dry ,off selling cows, rear calves now(milk now fed to calves alot cheaper to produce than early spring)reared calves making 250 so you will be paid for milk and easy to do outside now if you think its worth a chance in the spring you can always sell spring calves early

Nenagh is full already, and it's only april, ballyragget will be screwed too, too many cows being milked, so sell off as many cows as you like, and put the money in your arse pocket, all the creameries will be over quota on 31 march 2012. Guaranteed.

i would think that dairy stock are going to get very cheap going forward to the big year 2015.why have farmers produced so many animals that will not be really required until 2015,everone runs at the same time in the same direction and busto the farmer.did glanbia give this fancey deal to farmers for milkafter or for 2015 milk i dont think they did but i might be wrong, why have they done this deal.my thoughts on it are it is going to keep more farmers in until 2015 then free for all new entraints up to the balls in banks, old farmers caught no value for quota stock not great value they are stuck and irish farmers will do the same thing as norn a sure next year will be better.

every one seems to be forgetting that post 2015 the best we can hope for is 28c/ltr.

it will take 4 ltrs. of milk to buy 1 ltr of diesel.

We all make our own decisions about expansion. I know of a good few who persistently go over quota some by 100,000 gallons a year and there attitude is as long as they only get roasted one in 5 years it pays them (also they have little chance of getting large quantity of quota). Problem comes when you have been a good boy and then ramp up production the year of a superlevy then your screwed.
But hey on a positive note I believe there are many positives to once a day milking. looks like this year there will be a lot of us trying it for the first time:)
