Hard drive full up with Properties. help needed!

    Hi

    An error message popped up on my laptop today saying there was low disk space. So i went into the local disk c and looked inside it.There was folders thats were named windows properties,users and sw setup these three folders added up to 40 gb of space and there was a few folders that were 10gb at a time . Im just wondering can i delete them ? or can i put them on a external hard drive or do i leave them?

    You cannot delete windows system folders. Unless you tell us exactly what they are I wouldn't go deleting them.

    Download a tool called Ccleaner (google it), it should free up some space for you.

    windirstat is also good for finding large files and folders, but as AST says, don't delete anything that you don't know what it is.

    Clear RecycleBin
    Clear browser cache
    clear temp folders - c:\windows\temp
    and C:\Documents and Settings\USERNAME\Local Settings\Temp

    backup ! burn some DVDs or external drive

    SWSetup is a folder for all of the software and drivers pre installed on hp / compaq machines.

    You could back it up or if you are sure you dont need it you can delete it, all of the drivers can be got from the hp website anyway
