Laptop seriously overheating

Hey all, my laptop tends to get really really hot to the touch when I'm editing/rendering videos, watching Youtube and generally running several programs. This happens no matter where I have the laptop, on my lap, bed or even on desks and tables.

I know there's supposed to be a 1/4inch gap between the laptop and a hard surface but my sister pulled of the rubbery pads that rises it. Does anyone know where I could get some or even a makeshift solution. Would like to not have to buy one of those cooling fans for it.

Have you cleaned the cooler? Laptop heatsinks tend to use thin, high density copper fins that are easily blocked with general grime. A can of compressed or a vacuum cleaner should help you remove most of it. If you're feeling adventurous you can open it up and give it a through clean.

You can get self adhesive feet in lots of places but you might have to cut them down to size. Maplin perhaps.
