I bought a walker saorview box out of powercity but i can not seem to get it to work.I had no tv aerial because I thought it would work if I plugged a satellite dish into it But no luck.So I went out and bought a LLOYTRON FLAT DESIGN UHF AERIEL.I got a bad enough signal when I plugged it in first and just tried to scan for channels but nothing came through. The scan can not seem to pick up any channels can anybody help me ? thanks.

    Where are you located?

Internal (rabbit-ear) aerials only work in strong signal areas, you will probably require an external aerial.

Check here for coverage in your area - http://www.saorview.ie/make-the-switch/coverage-checker/

There is usually a set of instructions included with the box.

It all depends on the available signal strenght in your area at the moment. You may need a variable amplification boost for an indoor aerial, if it doesn't work at the highest point from a window facing downstairs, then it may need to be extended with a longer satellite graded cable up to a window on the landing upstairs or a larger aerial with a masthead amplifier maybe needed in the attic to receive the Saorview service. If that fails then an aerial above the level of the roof outside on tall or medium lenght of galvanised steel pole may work well for you. We will try to help you as best we can so tell us how you get on. :)

If you know someone with a roof aerial bring the box to their house and try it out there to make sure it works. Tune in the channels and then bring the box back home.

Now try your indoor aerial and see how it goes. If you still can't get a signal you will probably need to put an aerial in the attic or on the roof.

I suspect the roof aerial is pointed towards Wales as a legacy of the days when people put them up to get the UK channels.Turn the aerial towards Wexford, there's a mast on Forth Mountain for saorview.

From what you are saying it sounds like you have a VHF aerial only.

hi bought the walker saorview box for Christmas mainly to use the usb stick for recording. Got it set up ok but after a couple of weeks the sound would disappear when I put it on Turned everything off and then on again no sound. Come back after maybe an hour and sound is back on again. This has happened several times. Rang the shop and he said it could be the HDMI lead and replaced it. Have this lead 2 weeks and its happening again Any ideas why ?

Have you tried a Scart lead instead of the HDMI cable.

no because I have only one scart socket and that is going to my free to air box
Rang Soundstore and they will replace the box. No hassle which makes me wonder are there a lot of them coming back to them

You could have tried the scart lead for a few mins JUST to see is it an issue with the Box or the HDMI input on your TV. some times a the unused inputs on TV's Scart and HDMI get full of dust.

    HI There,
I bought the walker saorview box

    Without the soarview box I have rte1, rte2, tv3 & tg4 via an aerial

I have connected the aerial to the box, and the box to the tv.
I still have rte1, rte2, tv3 & tg4 with the Oct 24 in the corner, the box is on and displays init?
I can't get the menu on the box.. - the instructions indicate you get a start menu, but I'm getting nothing

I'm connecting via a coaxial cable, as my tv doesn't have hdmi and I didn't have an scart cable

You require a scart or HDMI cable, the co-ax cable to the the TV will only pass through the analogue channels.

If the tv has hdmi then you should use a hdmi cable to connect the box to the tv, if not you will need a scart lead.

Are you connecting the Saorview box to 2 TVs via HDMI?
