    Lads,
I was looking at rifles today for stalking next season and my local dealer showed me a "Browning X Bolt" with black synthetic stock and stainless barrel.
Have any of ye every shot \ used one of these rifles or know anything about them, good or bad ?

Its either that or the Tikka T3 Lite that I'm looking at.....for now !

Your opinions would be good to hear ?

    Thanks lads.

If I had a choice I'd go Tikka, simply as they are tried and tested. (and easy sell if you want to trade up to something fancy like a Blaser)
But I'd put an Edi graef stock on it.
GSXR1000 on here has a lovely Tikka in one of those Green Stocks.

I'm kind of thinking the same way xplor.er - the tried and tested Tikka is looking like the most likely candidate !

Hello Vixdname, had a Tikka M695 for a number of years and decided to update it to a T3 Lite. In my opinion it is not a good rifle.I got rid of it after 1 season. Could not get any sort of reasonable 3shot group with it. There was always a flier. Browning have been producing rifles for as long as Tikka. Their stuff is usually very reliabe.

its not to often i hear anything bad about tikka, is the m695 an older model, never neard of it.
the browning could be a bit risky as i dont know anyone who has one.
could be briliant or could be s**t, had a browning semi-auto shotgun and it was as unreliable as my local FO.

My first stalking rifle was a tikka M695 in 6.5x55 and it was a great rifle.
The tikka M695 and the sako 75 in the 270, 6.5x55 action size had a heavier barrel than the current T3 and Sako 85 models.
I wonder if that makes a difference.

    Not an X bolt but...
I have the Browning A bolt in .308 with synthetic stock and .22in barrel and Zeiss duralyt scope. I struggled to get it to group without mod on it, jumped a lot. Have a roedale delta mod on it now and its sweet! It’s a really neat gun for stalking and the composite stock has a great feel to it. Really happy with the gun and its shooting great and accurately, would recommend no problem. I was looking at the tikka but it was a couple of hundred more expensive so went with the abolt.

best of luck with the purchase.
